Does fathers drug abuse effect unborn baby?

I have a friend that recently impregnated his girlfriend. I am worried because my friend takes a lot of pain killers, smokes a large amounts of pot, and a little ecstasy and drinks very much. I am pretty sure he has smoke some crack recently as well. His girlfriend took ecstasy too one time about a month ago, but rarely does any drugs. I wanted to know if the fathers drug abuse will have any effect on the baby? They just found out she was pregnant a few days ago.

Anything she does or inhales affects the baby. So if she does drugs or inhales smoke from what he does, it will affect the baby. But him doing drugs will only affect the baby when he/she is older and needs a father.

Yah your friend should not be inhaling anything or drinking anything. It could increase the chances of fetal alcohol syndrome,asthma or SIDs if the mom is doing it or inhaling it.
Although I am not totally sure, there should be no problem if only the father does this. Because the baby develops in the female, only the actions of the female affect the baby after it is conceived I doubt the drugs altered the sperm in anyway, so you can rest assured that the baby will be fine. Just make sure the mother stays off drugs and alcohol from now on. You should also check the internet for possible extra vitamins the female should start taking in preparation for pregnancy.
Ah these people are crazy. It DOES effect the baby! If he has drugs and lots of alcohol in his system, it effects his sperm! The baby is made from his sperm! You need to be drug FREE before having a baby, both parents!!
